Structural detailing, as a design pro- cess, comprises the design of the cross-section, elevational profile and. the connections of a structural member in order to achieve the struc- tural engineering requirements of stability, strength and stiffness. Structural design is the methodical investigation of the stability, strength and rigidity of structures. The basic objective in structural analysis and design is to produce a structure capable of resisting all applied loads without failure during its intended life.
